Is anyone familiar with PHPBB2 and a possible mod to allow users to "report" spam?  and any other ways to prevent malicious (mainly P*rn content from being posted by bots or just plain idiots that manually post this junk on my forum?

Have you found any CAPTCHA mods? It should help take care of bots.

You must have an anti-Spam question mod installed if you're using phpBB. There are a couple of different ones, but any one of them should work.

Go to phpbb.com and get to the 2.0 mod forum. There are a lot of mods about anti spam. Install the one you think suits better to your forum.

Remember, none of those mods will keep your forum 100% free of spam, but they will help reduce it a lot.

I'd suggest upgrading to PHPBB3. It has a warning system and better spam controls built in. That being said, I'm sure there are tons of mods available for PHPBB2 that do the same thing. Head on over to the PHPBB site, then go to the Customize menu, there is a link to all (or atleast most) mods released for the forum.

I recently installed and started using PHPBB3, and I haven't had any problems with spam yet.
I still need to get used to it though Smiley

Upgrading is your best bet, it's fairly painless except for the template.  If you can't upgrade for some reason, look for the anti-bot question mod.
